Co2 MIG welding wire is a consumable electrode used in MIG welding (Metal Inert Gas welding), a type of gas metal arc welding (GMAW). In this process, the wire is continuously fed through a welding gun and melts to form the weld joint while a shielding gas protects the molten metal from contamination.

Flux-cored MIG welding wire is a tubular welding consumable with a flux compound packed inside a metal sheath. The flux inside the core melts during welding and generates a protective gas and slag that shield the molten weld pool from oxygen and other atmospheric contaminants — much like external shielding gas does in conventional MIG welding.
